Little Monster

The Little Monster.

Here is a quick image of one of my granddaughters.  She pleaded to help me set the lights up for her Mom and Dad’s portrait sitting.  I was updating the many images on our wall of our 7 children.  Her Mom and Dad were first up today.

EM 5_ II, 2 Lumedyne Heads, 2 52” PLM’s

The lighting is very simple.  If you look closely at her eyes, you will see two reflections.  They reveal the following setup of lights.

  • 1 - 52” Paul Buff PLM to Lilly’s right with 1 Lumedyne Head
  • 1- 42” Godox softbox directly behind me with 1 Lumedyne Head

Lilly explained that she would pretend to be a monster and insisted she would only help if she could be a monster!  I wonder how she will feel about this picture when she becomes a teenager?

While this image is pretty silly and very simple, it reminds me of how important it is to get the image right the first time.  Take the time to set your lights as accurately as possible.  This saves a lot of time in the long run.

This image is straight out of the camera.  I shot it in raw and converted it to a jpeg.  That’s it.  No retouching in Photoshop.
